BIO.

Elise Anne LaPlante (elle) est commissaire indépendante, autrice et travailleuse culturelle. Elle s’épanouit dans les zones grises, est interpellée par la portée politique du poétique et s’intéresse aux imaginaires ainsi qu’à l’affect dans un souci de déhiérarchisation des savoirs.

Elle mène actuellement le projet en trois cycles Le septième pétale d’une tulipe-monstre en partenariat avec La Maison des artistes visuels francophones (Saint-Boniface, MB, 2022), la Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen (Moncton, NB, 2023) et la Galerie de l’UQAM (Montréal, QC, 2023-2024). Parmi ses projets d’exposition récents, on compte aussi Le murmure d’une empreinte (Arprim, Montréal, 2022, avec Caroline Mauxion et Céline Huyghebaert) et Cultiver l’humilité | M8jagen piwihozw8gan (7e édition de la triennale ORANGE, Saint-Hyacinthe, 2022, un commissariat en duo avec Véronique Leblanc). Ses mots ont quant à eux été accueillis dans plusieurs publications et carnets d’expositions ainsi que dans les revues esse arts + opinions, Espace art actuel et Vie des arts.

Elle détient une maîtrise en histoire de l’art avec concentration en études féministes de l’UQAM et elle travaille à développer sa pensée écrite et sa posture curatoriale dans une démarche de réconciliation sensible entre théorie et pratique. Acadienne actuellement posée à Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal, ses pensées voyagent entre les régions. 

Depuis 2023, elle s’implique également comme codirectrice de l’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones (AGAVF).

Elise Anne LaPlante (she/her) is an independent curator, author, and cultural worker. She flourishes in the grey areas, intrigued and driven by the political possibilities of the poetic. She explores affect and imaginaries while remaining acutely attentive to the dehierarchization of knowledge.

Elise Anne holds an MA in art history and feminist studies from UQAM, and strives to develop and shape her thinking through writing and curating in a spirit of careful reconciliation between theory and practice. As an Acadienne currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal, her thought often travels between different spaces and times.

Since 2023, she is also codirector of l’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones (AGAVF).
